About Gold FilledSo, what is Gold Filled?
Here’s what google has to say: 14k gold filled jewelry is made by mechanically bonding a thick layer of 14-karat gold to a base metal—usually brass—so the gold becomes a durable, permanent outer layer rather than a thin surface plating. Because the gold content is measured by weight (often 5% or more of the total), gold filled pieces hold up far better to daily wear than gold plated items: they resist tarnish, maintain color, and stand up to rubbing, sweat, and water without flaking off.
TLDR; Gold Fill is a more durable form of gold plating. It is hypoallergenic, tarnish resistant, and the best part, waterproof!
Why aren’t all your products Gold Filled?
To be frank, gold filled products and jewelry finishings are, well, expensive. As a very young start up business, I knew I had to be very particular about what I could afford to put into this brand (at least for right now). As a pretty broke college student, I also know that not everyone is in a financial position to be spending upwards of $20 for a bracelet. What I think to be a “win-win” for everyone involved, my collections come at different price ranges depending on what your wants/needs may be.
Are your non-gold filled products still good quality?
Yes of course! While my non-gold filled products may not have the fancy finishings, all bracelets are crafted with the highest quality glass beads to prevent excessive wear down and color fading. Like the gold filled collection, all basic bracelets are waterproof and tarnish resistant.
